Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown

My niece Isys was working on a Flat Stanley project for her 2nd grade class. She mailed me an envelope and inside was a letter from her teacher, a letter from her, and Flat Stanley. The letter from her teacher said that her class has been reading a book called Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown and is working on a geography project. My job was to take Flat Stanley to places and take pictures with him and mail him back with postcards after the holidays.

Here is her letter:

Isn't that cute! Do you remember writing on paper like this? hehe

Anyway, I tried to take Flat Stanley everywhere I went. Jaycee was looking at me funny when I asked him to take a picture of me and Flat Stanley at Bahay Kubo lol. When I asked Arianny to take a picture of me and Flat Stanley at ArcLight Theatre she thought it was cute.

Well here is my letter to Isys:
Dear Isys,

Thank you for sending Flat Stanley to me. He was great company and a good guest.

We got to go to a lot of places. The first place I took him to was one of my favorite Filipino restaurants called Bahay Kubo near downtown Los Angeles, where we ate with my cute friend Joseph (He has the same name as Uncle Kakoo). Since Bahay Kubo didn’t serve macaroni and cheese I gave Flat Stanley a Filipino dish called Pancit. It had noodles and vegetables in it which gave him a lot of nutrients and vitamins.

After we were full from eating all that Filipino food, we went to the Fashion District in downtown Los Angeles. I couldn’t find what I was looking for so the next day I took Flat Stanley and my best friend Drea to the new Americana Mall in Glendale, CA. When Drea and I took a rest from shopping we sat down near this huge fountain and enjoyed a water show.

I also took him to a Mixed Martial Arts fight with me in Long Beach, CA where we took two buses and two trains to get there. I forgot to take pictures with him at the fight, but I got pictures of him on the train.

We also went to a movie with my friend and celebrity UFC ring girl and model, Miss Arianny Celeste. We watched the movie called Slumdog Millionaire at the ArcLight theatres off of Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, CA. I suggest you tell your Mommy and Daddy to go watch that movie. It was really good. Arianny, Flat Stanley, and I really enjoyed it.

Before I knew I had to send Flat Stanley back to Stockton I took him for a treat and we went to Hollywood and Highlands in Hollywood and all the stars that you see on TV have been there. I got pictures with Flat Stanley near the stars of a lot of famous celebrities like Kermit the Frog, Mickey Mouse, Destiny’s Child, Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen, Britney Spears, and Jackie Chan. At the Chinese Theatre we took pictures of the hand prints and foot prints of actors and actresses like Julie Andrews (one of my all time favorite actresses), Johnny Depp, Adam Sandler, Shirley Temple, and Donald Duck!

I hope Flat Stanley enjoyed his stay here with me in Hollywood, CA. Again, thank you for sending him my way.

Be good and stay blessed and always remember Jesus loves you.

See you soon…

Love always,
Auntie Rara

Here are some of the pics I took...

When I came home to Stockton I called my cousin Roger so that he can tell his daughter Isys that I had Flat Stanley. He tossed Isys the phone and I gave her the good news. She screamed YAY and couldn't wait to have him back. When Roger picked me up we grabbed some pizza and headed over to my Auntie Moneth's house. Isys didn't finish her pizza and when Roger told her 'three more bites' she said 'No'. Roger goes "Okay, three more bites and then you can open up Flat Stanley.", Isys quickly ate the rest of her pizza excited to open up Flat Stanley. :)

I had her read my letter out loud so our family can hear her. She read so well I am so proud of her. She is my very first niece and the first to ever call me 'Auntie Rara'. I can't believe how big she is and how fast she is growing. I thanked her Mom, Diana for having her send Flat Stanley to me and she said "We knew you would do it for her" Awwwwww I felt soooo good inside cause I'd do anything for her. Later on, I asked Isys how her class liked her Flat Stanley and she said it was the coolest one with the most pictures haha.

I would recommend Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown to any parent. The book gives children an imagination that runs wild and at the same time they get to learn about the geographical parts of our world. :)

This was so fun to do. I love being an Auntie Rara! ;)

I love being an Auntie Rara!

I'm sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I spent a few weeks in Stockton with my family. I love going back home to see my nieces and my nephew. I seek no greater joy than being an "Auntie Rara" It is just the cutest thing when I hear them say it. These kids are my heart and I will do anything for them.

The Inauguration Ball...

I couldn't help but to watch the First Dance over and over again. It reminded me of Fairy Tales and Disney movies where the Prince takes his Princess and they danced all night long but this time our King Barak Obama took his Queen Michelle Obama and now he's ready to rule our kingdom. And we also have Maliya and Sasha as our Princesses of this far away land of opportunity. :)

I melted...

You gotta watch Beyonce's response to how overwhelmed she felt to be a part of our history.

Beat Freaks on MTV's America's Best Dance Crew Tonight!

Please watch this seasons America's Best Dance Crew and VOTE for Beat Freaks. www.freakthevote.com

I've known these girls for a while obviously because my ex-boyfriend, JD is a dancer and is a Groovaloo. Most of these girls are Groovaloos just as some members from the Jabbawockeez and Super Cr3w were too. I keep in contact with Maryss from Paris cause she is my girl and my BBM buddy. You'd think she is white but in reality she is Filipino. She can speak better Tagalog than most Filipino Americans I know lol. I used to see these girls all the time when JD and I were together. That's what sucked about the break up... all of his friends are really good people and the best dancers in the industry, I never get to see them anymore... and I do miss them :(

I can honestly say that I haven't really watched America's Best Dance Crew. I've probably only seen maybe two shows. This will be the first season I will be completely dedicated to cause Beat Freaks will be blowing the world away.

Beat Freaks is an all-girl crew from California. The original crew has 8 members: Al'Star, Lady Jules, Lockn'Key, Maryss from Paris, Out There, Rino, Teresa Espinosa, Shorty; the DOPEST female dancers in the industry. Their resumes can speak for itself. If you can imagine the NBA All Star Basketball team with Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Tim Duncan, and Yao Ming... these girls are equivalent to them but in the dance industry. I'm really excited for all of them. They are surrounded by positive people and the greatest energy. I know they are gonna take it... I hope you're all ready for it!

I Interviewed MTV's ABDC's Super Cr3w rockin my Toe2Toe jacket!

Super Cr3w from MTV's America's Best Dance Crew came to Stockton as Cali Junkiez and Run 209 welcomed them. It's a good thing I knew Do-Knock from Super Cr3w, he was able to rally up the guys for me. I interviewed them and asked each dancer how their stay was in Stockton 209 and of course had to ask them if they watched MMA and if so who was their favorite fighter. They are a bunch of Goofballs and yelled out Ryu and Ken. One said Chuck Liddell and Mike is an MMA fan and said Fedor Emelianenko. When I get the footage I'll post it on my site.

My hot date with Miss Arianny Celeste and Slumdog Millionaire

Yesterday, Arianny hit me up and asked me to hang out for some girl time. We decided to hit up a movie hoping to catch a matinee but I guess Arclight on Sunset Blvd doesn't have matinee prices lol. Arianny picked the movie, Slumbdog Millionaire. I had no idea what the movie was about because I've never seen the previews. I guess I don't watch TV enough but I do know I wanna see Marley and Me soon...

Slumdog Millionare was such a great movie. I would recommend it to anyone. It completely showed the life of a slumdog in India and the crazy things they had to do to get by because of the poverty. Throughout the movie I kept on thinking how beautiful the Indian culture was. Many of you may not know this, only my friends and family from Stockton do, but I used to date a Fijian Indian on and off for four years. He was my high school sweetheart. His family is amazing. They took me in even though I was Filipino and dressed me in Indian sari's as I would attend Indian weddings with them. I loved Roti and Cha with buttered toast, but most of all I loved dancing to bhangra music. My greatest experience was when I got to put Mendi on his cousin at his wedding... that's how much I was family. :) I still love them to this day... During the movie I became grateful for the experience of getting to be a part of such a wonderful culture, because I don't think I would have enjoyed the movie as much as I did.

Arianny enjoyed the movie too. It was such a romantic movie and since we are girls I guess we are suckers for love haha. Next time maybe she and I will go on a double date. Right now we are working on prospects lol ;)

Arianny and I waiting for the movie to start rockin our Ugz

After the movie we hit our favorite Thai spot in Hollywood, Toi off of Sunset. She likes this Chicken Salad and I always get Chicken Pad Ciw. Then we headed to my place to do some internet browsing. Drea was home so we even had more of a ladies night over some hot tea.

It's always nice to have your girlfriends around. Cheers to our next double date! lol ;)

My New Favorite MMA Jacket...

I went to Long Beach Fight Night last night and I got excited when I saw Matt wearing this cute ass Toe2Toe jacket. I quickly took a picture of him and BBM'ed my dear friend and owner of Toe2Toe, Chad, and sent him the photo. I said "Cute! I want one!!" After the fights a group of us went to eat Thai food and while we were waiting for our food I asked Matt to try on his Toe2Toe jacket. I took another picture again and BBM'ed it to Chad HAHA! I love the colors and red is my favorite color too so I was totally drawn to this jacket. I'm so attracted to it I had to blog about it. I can't wait to get mine. :)

Check it out!
